Welcome to our Blog!

Single Sisters and Friends' Cookout - July 21, 2012

For some time now I have wanted a way to post pictures of our events and service projects.  Our web page allows pictures but without a place for comments so that was not a real solution.  Jason Chance, Judy's son, has now created this blog for us!  In the future I will back up and post some pictures from past events but for now I thought you might like to see a few pictures from our cookout last Saturday at the home of Sue Giachero and her mother, Dorothy Mantyla.

Just in case you do not know them, this is Sue and Dorothy.

Sue and her family have the incredible gift of hospitality.  We were greeted with open arms and munchies waiting on too many tables to count.  While dishes of delicious food was opened and arranged on the kitchen table,  Joe was busy grilling huge hamburgers and tasty hot dogs.  Not knowing we would have a blog this soon, I am sorry to say I did not take pictures of the table of food but let me assure you, we had every kind of delightful cookout side dish plus beautiful burger-sized tomato slices in red and yellow all topped off with calorie packed desserts.

Some of us ate outside at one or other of Sue's beautiful tables.  A threatening storm ran us inside to join the rest of the ladies but Sue was prepared for our North Carolina summer weather.  Plenty of room for everyone to enjoy the food and spend some time getting to know each other better.

Judy Chance brought her African Mission Trip album.  Annie Hunt, Joyce Ford and Dawn Lamb enjoyed the pictures along with their desserts at the dining room table.

Judy Lytle picked a lovely corner spot to enjoy Judy's album.

Brenda Semones (eyes closed), Pamella Loy, Carole Batten and Carolyn Clodfelter were part of a group who settled at another lovely table.  This group was constantly shouting with laughter but the rest of the ladies were not far behind in the number of giggles and smiles.

Frankie Pearson found her favorite comfy chair and looks like
she is enjoying the conversation with Sue and some of the others.

Sue and Dorothy were not the only mother/daughter
team in the group.  Here is Michelle and Jane Morris with
Joanna Meredith in the middle.
Joanna's mom, Carolyn Clodfelter, was also with us but
somehow she is not in a picture with Joanna.
Blame it on the photographer!

Just thought you would like to see a few of the sisters living up to our
"no gossip" mandate.  Pamella Loy is "hear no evil",  Bonnie Smith
is "see no evil" and Debbie Marlowe is "speak no evil"!
We are a church group after all!

Not sure what is going on at this table but we have
Brenda Semones and Carole Batten doing something or other.
Sometimes I wonder about these two!

Joanna Meredith, Brenda Semones, Carole Batten and several
others who you cannot see were up to something.
Perhaps "Kumbaya"?

I wish I had taken tons and tons of pictures of Sue's
incredible home.  Everywhere you turned was one lovely sight
after another.  This is one corner of her kitchen.

As I said, every corner was beautiful.

If the weather had cooperated, we were invited to play
croquet or horse shoes or sit on their patio surrounded
by the beautiful flower beds.  I could not resist
taking a picture of "Judy" the very dignified scarecrow
in the vegetable garden.

This little piggy was nestled happily near the patio.
I ate so much that I felt like her sister.

I hope you have enjoyed this first Single Sisters and Friends
blog post.  I wish my pictures could show you the warm welcome
we received, the sweet fellowship we shared and the
joyful laughter that filled our time together.
What a blessing to be together in the kind of fellowship that the Lord
gives His children.  Especially His daughters.

Thank you Sue, Joe and Dorothy for inviting us into your home.
I want to mention they had guests from out of town in addition
to having us for the evening.  Their friend,Terry, was a delight and
worked so hard to make us feel welcome, too.  I think her husband
helped Joe at the grill but whoever cooked, it was delicious.
Thank you each and every one.
